THIS WEEKS THEME - SPRING FEVER!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I HATE THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE. I HAVE BEEN TWICE IN TWO WEEKS FOR A TOTAL OF 10 1/2 HOURS! THEY ARE REFUSING TO GIVE CALEB A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER BECAUSE THE FIRST SET OF PAPER WORK I BROUGHT DIDN'T INCLUDE MY PAPER WORK FROM GUATEMALA. WE RE-ADOPTED CALEB HERE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, SO I BROUGHT THE ADOPTION DECREE. THEY SAID THAT WOULDN'T WORK. SO I WENT BACK TODAY WITH THE ORGINAL PAPER WORK I HAD BROUGHT PLUS THE PAPER WORK WE HAVE FROM GUATEMALA. THEY TOLD ME SINCE THE PAPER WORK I HAVE FROM GUATEMALA DOESN'T HAVE ANY THING FROM THE U.S. EMBASSY, I NEEDED THE ADOPTION DECREE FROM TEXAS THST SHOWS IT WAS FILED WITH THE COURTS. I ASKED WHY WASN'T I TOLD THIS FROM THE BEGINING. SHE TOLD ME, "MAM, WE ARE MORE STRICT THAN IMMIGRATION". I ALMOST FELT LIKE SHE WAS IMPLYING CALEBS ADOPTION WAS FRAUD. I WAS LIVID! I CALLED THE LAYWERS WE USED HERE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT ADOPTION DECREES ARE NOT FILED WITH THE COURTS. SO NOW WHAT DO I DO? ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

I agree with you - it does seem like she was implying like Caleb's adoption was less than official. He's home, and that is all that matters.

What a bunch of BS, I might have knocked the woman out:) We have K's Social Security card but now we are re-adopting, what a headache(our agency is closed so I have to call other agencies to have my questions answered). We did get our FBI background checks back, so we can move on:)

So sorry you are having such a problem. We have Lizzie's SS card, but it is her birth name. We have to get a new one now that her readoption in IL and name change are official. I hope IL isn't as annoying as Texas! I'm sending thoughts and prayers your way that things will clear up soon. Traci
